Beer production in Poland has a long history. The earliest evidence of brewing dates back to the Middle Ages, when monasteries were the main producers in the country. During the time of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Poland was influenced by German culture and many traditional beers reflect this heritage.
In recent years, the craft beer scene has grown rapidly and hundreds of distilleries have sprung up across the country. Polish craft beers are characterised by the use of local and quality ingredients, such as Polish malt and hops from specific regions.
The tour winds through Kazimierz, a neighbourhood known for its Jewish history and culture, as well as its many bars, restaurants and art spaces. Here you will find the Fabryka Schindlera (Oskar Schindler's former factory, which inspired the Spielberg film), the beautiful Old Synagogue (with its characteristic Gothic architecture) and other points of interest.
