Step by Step

This activity consists of a skip-the-line guided tour , where you will learn about one of the most important religious and political sites in Poland: the Wawel Hill. You can choose from several options when booking. You can choose to see just the Wawel Castle, just the Cathedral or visit both buildings for a more complete overview.

As the activity will have about 12 travellers per group, you will get more personal attention from a local guide who is an expert in the history of the Wawel area and the Old Town of Krakow.

You will explore the interior of Wawel Castle, including the Royal Apartments and the State Rooms.

This castle of Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance architecture served as a residence for Polish kings such as Sigismund II. Today, the castle is one of the best art museums in the country, with collections of goldsmiths, armour, tapestries, paintings and much more.

You will also have access to the interior of Wawel Cathedral. This cathedral was the religious symbol of all Poland for centuries and was the site of funerals and coronations of such figures as Bishop St. Stanislaus. The Royal Chapel with its gilded dome and the Wawel Bells are other jewels that are highly valued by visitors.

In addition, the statue of Pope John Paul II and General Tadeusz Kosciuszko are monuments of high national value that you will pass during the tour.

A walk through the Old Town of Kraków and the Market Square should not be missed to complete this route. This area is connected to Wawel Castle by the so-called Royal Road.

Wawel's rich history and artistic atmosphere will take you on a journey through Polish history. Not to mention legends such as the Dragon of Wawel, which will make you experience a real fairy tale.

The castle contains an enormous amount of rooms, I didn't imagine it was so big until I saw it in person. I would say it takes several days to walk through the entire castle and get a better understanding of its history.

An emblematic place in Krakow, full of impressive and very curious stories. It was a good choice to go on this tour, not only because of the castle itself, but also because of how informative it was.

The walk to the castle is well worth it. Although the length of the tour is not very beneficial, I think it is a good choice if you are in Krakow.
