Step by Step

This segway tour lasts about an hour and a half and touches Madrid's youngest park. An expert guide will tell you about the genesis of this green area that follows the course of the Manzanares. Until the early 2000s, a motorway used to run through here, which was buried to create a new green lung just a stone's throw from the city centre.

This new space has not only benefited the lives of the people of Madrid, but has also become a perfect habitat for plants and animals. The renaturation of the river has brought herons, kingfishers, hoopoes and dozens of other species to the city. In addition to the fauna, during the itinerary you will also see the following attractions:

  • Presas del Manzanares - The river is crossed by eight Herrerian-style dams. They are left open so as not to interrupt the flow of water.
  • Puente de Segovia - The dean of Madrid's viaducts. It was built in 1584 following the design of Juan de Herrera. Built with granite blocks, it is still used by pedestrians and vehicles.
  • Huerta de la Partida - The former orchard of the Vargas Palace. Its agricultural past has been honoured with almond, walnut and olive trees and a "stone river" that recreates the old course of the Meaques stream. It also hosts a panoramic viewpoint
  • Puente de Toledo - The most monumental bridge. What stands out most are the small temples that house the sculptures of San Isidro Labrador, patron saint of the city, and his wife Santa María de la Cabeza.
  • Pasarela de Arganzuela - The most modern. It is made up of two sections that "rest" on an artificial hill in the middle. It bears the signature of the French architect Dominique Perrault.
  • Puente del Rey - The entrance to the Casa de Campo, the former royal hunting estate which is now the largest park in the capital.
  • Puente de los Franceses - This bridge is located near Príncipe Pío station and guarantees the transit of trains. You will recognise it by its reddish colour

Before leaving, the guide will give you a brief training on how to ride the Segway. Don't worry, it's intuitive and easy to learn.

I've been living in Madrid for 7 months and as a way to get out of the routine I took this tour with friends from university. You have no idea how much fun we had!

Very good explanation of each stop we made. The guide knew how to explain so that both children and adults could understand. We loved this experience.

I wouldn't have been able to find out everything the guide told us, not even from Google. We learned a lot and the Segway made the tour much more entertaining.
