Remember that this is an all-day tour (in most cases), so depending on whether meals are included or not, you should consider bringing something to eat. In the event that meals are not included, minibuses usually have coolers to store anything that may need to be kept cold.

Before setting off, always bear in mind the expected temperature for the rest of the day in the region. It never hurts to take a jumper, jacket or mackintosh, in case you need one.

Bear in mind that you will be outdoors, with few places to take shelter in case it rains or cools down. If you have any questions, you can ask when you make your booking, as contact numbers are always included.

How much does it cost to hike Mount Rainier?

Prices will depend on many factors, such as the number of hours the tour lasts, whether breakfast and lunch are included or not, if there are any other special services (such as the seaplane ride or the wine tasting), etcetera.

It is therefore very important that you evaluate the different excursion options on offer so that you can choose the one that best suits your desires and budget.

With this in mind, excursions range from approximately €150 to €317. Of course there are other options, but I didn't find them relevant enough.

Why do you recommend a trip to Mount Rainier?

A trip to Mount Rainier is highly recommended because you will have the opportunity to see one of the oldest National Parks in the United States, a truly magical place only 94 kilometres from Seattle.

It is a truly unforgettable experience, where you will see moose, black bears, goats, a currently active volcano and breathtaking scenery. Ideal for nature lovers and those looking for a break from the city.

What are the advantages of taking a guided tour vs. visiting Mount Rainier on my own?

Exploring Mount Rainier| ©Rob Patzke
Exploring Mount Rainier| ©Rob Patzke

It is always preferable to take a guided tour rather than visiting the National Park on your own, since, in addition to having practically everything taken care of, from entrance fees, permits, transfers and so on, you will have a local guide who is a specialist in the subject, who will be able to tell you everything about the park, Mount Rainier, its species, its history, as well as its most recommendable spots.

On the other hand, if you decide to visit the park on your own, it is very likely that you will have some things to visit, details to know, and you will end up wasting your holiday time, or not getting the most out of it.

So, never hesitate, a guided tour is always the best option, especially when it comes to a place like Mount Rainier, with no less than 100,000 hectares and hundreds of years of history behind it.
