Step by Step

Experience the ultimate foodie experience on a guided walking tour of Southeast Manhattan. You will taste the best traditional dishes and visit interesting places in the borough. The tour includes visits to:Little Italy, Chinatown, Nolita, Tenement Museum, St. Patrick's Cathedral and much more.

This tour will be attended by about 14 travellers with the intention of providing you with a quality experience.

For an in-depth look at the history of Southeast Manhattan, a visit to the African Burial Ground National Monument is a must. It is home to more than 400 remains of African-Americans, free and mostly slaves, buried during the 17th and 18th centuries.

You'll be impressed by the architecture of St. Patrick's Cathedral. It is the largest neo-Gothic church in North America.

You will stroll through the Lower East Side neighbourhood and witness its evolution. It is one of the oldest in NYC where millions of expatriates arrived. You will pass close by the Tenement Museum, a museum that reveals the life of immigrants in New York from 1870 to 1940.

Chinatown, home to the largest Chinese community in the West, is waiting to seduce you with its charm. Its striking streets with Chinese signs make it a world apart in the Big Apple.

You will enjoy some green areas. You will pass through Columbus Park and Sara Delano Roosevelt Park. Your guide will show you how both parks have changed over the years.

You will walk along the colourful lanes of Little Italy and your guide will tell you the story of the first Italian expatriates who took refuge in this area of Manhattan. You'll see modern art on the streets and visit a famous food shop for an exquisite tasting.

You'll also walk the streets of Nolita, once Little Italy's stomping ground, filled with restaurants, bars and art.

I really enjoyed doing a tour that included the history of the neighbourhoods and gave us a chance to taste their food. Our guide was great, she knew a lot of things and shared them with us. I 100% recommend this tour. We did NOT have to eat dinner afterwards!

We wanted to discover a part of New York that we didn't know, and this tour hit the nail on the head. Our guide was wonderful, very energetic and enthusiastic about the areas we went through and the food we tried. The tour route was perfectly planned so that we could sample and discover various neighbourhoods. The food was very tasty, just don't eat before the tour!

This was our favourite tour of the trip. It was well worth it. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and the tour itself was full of information and history. The food was excellent (we are still talking about some of the samples we tried weeks later). It was a great way to see the area, taste good food and give us an idea of where to go next time. Highly recommend this tour, even though it was cold when we did it, it is easy to do the walk and understand the guide perfectly. A great tour.
