Houston will host CONMEBOL and CONCACAF teams, so it will have some of the best match-ups of the Copa America 2024. It will feature Mexico, Jamaica, Colombia and Paraguay, representatives of groups B and D, who will be looking for a place in the knockout phase of the tournament.

Mexico

Mexico will be the main protagonist in Houston, as Texas has one of the largest Mexican immigrant communities in the world. As a representative of CONCACAF, it is the most successful of its confederation's teams in the history of the Copa America and in the 2024 edition it will be looking to make the final blow and leave behind the two lost finals in 1993 and 2001, so buying tickets for Mexico's match against Jamaica is a very good option.

  • Number of Copa América appearances... 11 editions.
  • Best Copa América result... runners-up twice, in 1993 and 2001.
  • Last Copa América result... eliminated in the first round in the 2015 edition.

Jamaica

Jamaica were previously invited to the Copa America three times, but never made it past the group stage. In 2024 they will be joined by Mexico, Ecuador and Venezuela in a very tough group where they will be looking to qualify for the knockout stage for the first time. Their performance is one of the great unknowns of the tournament, but I recommend you buy your Jamaica vs. Mexico tickets because surprises are guaranteed.

  • Number of Copa América participations... 3 editions.
  • Best result in Copa América... first round, last time in 2016.
  • Last Copa America result... first round in 2016.

Colombia

Colombia is a historic Copa America team and even managed to win the title in the 2001 edition, which they hosted, but in recent years their level has dropped a lot and they need a good performance to get on track for the future. As a background, in order to buy a ticket for the Colombia vs. Paraguay match, it comes with a third place in 2021.

  • Number of Copa América appearances... 23 editions.
  • Best result in Copa América... one time champion in the 2021 edition.
  • Last Copa América result... third in the 2021 edition.

Paraguay

Two-time Copa America champions and frequent entertainers in the South American qualifiers, Paraguay is another team in the doldrums due to recent results. Their last great continental performance was in 2011, when they lost the final to Uruguay. In 2024 they will be looking to bounce back in a very difficult and demanding group, so don't delay in buying your Paraguay vs Colombia tickets.

  • Number of Copa América appearances... 38 editions.
  • Best result in Copa América... 2 times champion, the last one in 1979.
  • Last Copa América result... quarter-finalist in the 2021 edition.

Houston will host the Copa America at NRG Stadium, a 72,000-capacity stadium that is one of the largest in the tournament and has already hosted several large events, including two Super Bowls, five CONCACAF Gold Cups and three Copa America 2016 matches, including the semi-final in which Argentina defeated the USA.

Since its inauguration in 2002, it has also been the home of the NFL's Houston Texans, one of the frequent hosts of the AFC South division. In 2026, it will also be one of the venues for the World Cup to be jointly hosted by the USA, Mexico and Canada, and was proposed as one of the possible stadiums for the final, although this has not yet been decided.

Because of its location, relatively close to downtown Houston, NRG Stadium is very accessible by transport and even by private car, as it has one of the largest car parks of any US stadium. It also has a retractable roof, which will allow you to enjoy your Copa America tickets during hot or rainy days.

What are the best locations at NRG Stadium?

NRG Stadium is one of the largest of the stadiums hosting the Copa America and, like the other major US venues, is distinguished by its visibility. However, as it has a quadrangular design with three concourses, it is the lower level that offers the best view and the closest to the field. There are also luxury seats and VIP boxes in the middle sections.

If you want to save money, you can bet on buying Copa America tickets in the upper sectors of the stadium, which are usually cheaper because they are the furthest away from the pitch.

How to get to NRG Stadium?

  • By bus... you can get there from downtown Houston on bus services 32, 56, 84, 151 and 229 in about 30 minutes.
  • By METRORail... you can get there from downtown Houston on the Red line in about 25 minutes.
  • By car... you can get there via I-69 in about 15 minutes.

When buying Copa America tickets in Houston, keep the following information in mind:

  • Houston is one of the most important venues for the championship and has a large Mexican community, so tickets for the Mexico vs Jamaica match are likely to sell out quickly.
  • If you buy tickets in advance, you will be able to get better rates, as prices in the USA tend to be dynamic and tickets will increase in price around the time of each match.
  • If you are looking for budget tickets, you can opt for the upper tiers, which are the furthest away from the field and the cheapest.
  • The matches at NRG Stadium are played at 5pm and 8pm, so if you are planning to participate in other activities in the city, you will have to take into account the kick-off time in order not to miss any detail, especially considering that the access to the stadium could be crowded due to the large number of fans.
