At the moment there are no guided tours of the Flamenco Dance Museum and it may not be necessary to pay for such an excursion to the exhibition, as the spaces and art installations inside are perfectly organised to provide the visitor with an immersive experience.

The exhibitions are also well explained and several languages are included including Spanish, English, French, German, Chinese and Japanese.

Although it is not possible to find guided tours at the moment, tickets to the flamenco shows held in the museum are available on tour search websites such as Hellotickets. The best part? Often at cheaper prices than buying the ticket at the door. Take advantage!

How to get tickets for the Flamenco Dance Museum in Seville at the box office

You can buy tickets for the Museum directly at the ticket office located right at the main entrance of the venue. If you are only interested in seeing the exhibition it is very easy to get a seat: just make sure you get there at least one hour before the closing time of the exhibition.

But if your main interest in the Flamenco Dance Museum is to see a flamenco show, it is best to buy your tickets in advance.

The reason? The enclosure dedicated to dance shows are rather small, with the intention of maintaining an intimate and close atmosphere with the spectator, this translates to the need to limit the capacity and usually the tickets to the show are sold out very quickly.

If you book online you can get cheaper tickets and avoid this kind of inconvenience.

How to get to the Flamenco Dance Museum in Seville

The Museum of Flamenco Dance in Seville is located on Manuel Rojas Marcos Street, in the very heart of the city, occupying what was once an 18th century mansion belonging to wealthy families.

The space has been beautifully renovated over the years and due to its strategic location it is easy to find transport links to this area of the city. I list the available options below.

  • Seville Tramway: Seville's public transport service is highly efficient; to get to this area of the city you will have to take the tram line to Plaza Nueva. It is located 7 minutes walk from the museum entrance.
  • Public bus: Several public bus lines stop in the vicinity of the museum. The closest ones are the ones that stop at Plaza Encarnación and Plaza Ponce de Léon.
  • Seville tourist bus: the best way to get around the different attractions of the city. The bus has pre-established stops near the different monuments, museums, churches and other points of interest for visitors to the city. A new bus passes each stop every 30 minutes.

Is it advisable to go to the Flamenco Dance Museum with children?

Although the Flamenco Dance Museum in Seville is a fully child-friendly place to go, and you will even find that tickets for children under 12 are cheaper and children under 6 are free, I think that only attending the permanent exhibition of the museum can be boring for the younger ones.

If you are visiting Seville with children, a more interesting alternative is to buy tickets to the museum combined with the flamenco show, as the act of seeing live and up close the world class dancers and singers can be much more fun for them.

In any case, don't miss the permanent exhibition, although children may not find the historical part interesting, the exhibition of flamenco costumes from all periods is an area of the exhibition that they really enjoy.

The Museum of Flamenco Dance in Seville was founded by one of the greatest exponents of this art not only for Spain, but for the world, the famous bailaora Cristina Hoyos.

Another interesting aspect about the museum is its location; the manor house that today serves as the exhibition space was built on the ruins of an ancient Roman temple.

  • Room 5: This exhibition space is composed of a huge semi-circular screen where a choreography is presented.
  • Exhibition of costumes: A collection of mythical costumes of the most important dancers in the history of flamenco in Seville.

How much time do you need to visit the Flamenco Dance Museum in Seville?

Again, this will depend mainly on the activities you want to do during your visit to the Flamenco Dance Museum.

If you decide to attend only the exhibition area to see both the museum's permanent collection and the temporary collections on the second level you will need to set aside an hour to complete the tour.

On the other hand if your main interest is to attend the flamenco show entitled "Sueños Flamencos", you should know that these usually last just over an hour. In this space you will see the presentation of 3 professional dancers, 2 singers and 1 guitarist.

My recommendation is to do both activities as long as your itinerary allows for them and to dedicate at least 2.5 hours to your visit to the Museo del Baile in Seville.

Opening hours of the Flamenco Dance Museum

Depending on the activities you want to do in the museum you should take into consideration two main opening hours.

  • Museum opening hours: The museum is open every day from 11:00 h in the morning until 18:00 h in the afternoon. The ticket office closes at 6 p.m. and the last group of visitors is allowed to enter.
  • Show times: The flamenco show takes place every day in small groups and at three times, at 5 pm, 7 pm and the last one at 8:45 pm. The museum management allows the organisation of private shows at other times but they must be requested in advance.

My recommendation: organise your visit to the Museo del Baile Flamenco to see the exhibition either before the first show of the day or after it. This way you can make the most of your time and do both activities in one visit.

This option is ideal for people who will be in the city for a short period of time, such as two days in Seville.

Tips for visiting the Flamenco Dance Museum in Seville

Here are a few tips to help you organise your visit and have a more enjoyable experience.

  • Organise your tour: This point is especially useful if you buy the shared ticket that includes the visit to the museum and the live flamenco show. I advise you to check the schedule section to make and organise the activities in such a way that you can do both in one visit.
  • Buy your tickets in advance: The flamenco show at the Museo de Baile is held in a small space with limited seating; although it is a very nice way to enjoy the show (as you can appreciate the performers at very close range) the limited seating means that tickets sell out very quickly. There are only three performances a day, so booking in advance is the only way to guarantee a seat, especially during the busy summer season in Seville.
  • Look at the calendar of activities before your visit: Apart from being an exhibition space, the Museum of Flamenco Dance in Seville is an area dedicated to the dissemination of the arts and the preservation of flamenco culture. Temporary exhibitions or activities such as the Flamenco Poems Show or dance classes are constantly being organised which could be of interest to admirers.
  • Pets are not allowed: remember that pets are not allowed in the museum during your visit, the only exception being guide dogs.
