Cala Turqueta in Menorca

Cala Turqueta is known for the turquoise blue of its waters, but also for its fine sand and lush vegetation, it looks like something out of the Caribbean! You can reach it by car and it is accessible on foot, but you can also visit it from the sea by booking a boat trip to the southern coves, with lunch, or the same boat trip without lunch. Take note!

To make the most of your visit to Cala Turqueta, the best way is to visit it by boat, and the best thing of all is that you can do it without having to invest a lot of money. You have the following options:

A boat excursion to the coves of the south

From Ciudadela and Cala Galdana there are daily boat trips that take you to enjoy the best coves in the south of Menorca. A trip that lasts about 3 hours and a half, with which you can access those coves that are more difficult to access without a boat, Cala Mitjana or Cala Macarella... are just some of them... And explore all its underwater life thanks to the snorkelling activity that you can do during the trip for about 38€ approximately.

The same boat trip to the southern coves, but with lunch!

Although you also have another possibility and that is that you can book your boat trip to the southern coves of Menorca with lunch. This is a longer excursion, lasting about 7 hours, which includes a visit to Playa Arenal de Son Saura, Cala Es Talaier, the Artruix lighthouse and Cala Turqueta, and from the boat you can see different natural resources such as the limestone cliffs, the beautiful ravines, the dunes and the Mediterranean forests. As we said the excursion includes lunch on the boat for a super complete trip for about 55€ in total.

How to get to Cala Turqueta

Getting to Cala Turqueta is quite easy and without a doubt, it is well worth it. You will have to get up early to get a spot, but you can get there easily. Here's how.

By car

The best thing about getting to Cala Turqueta is that it has its own car park, so parking will not be a problem. From Ciudadela, for example, you can get there very quickly (along the Camí de Sant Joan de Missa road) and it is only ten minutes from the car park to the beach.

On foot

Getting to paradise on foot is not a problem. The car park at Cala Turqueta makes the walk to the beach very short, you only have to walk for about ten minutes and it is well signposted. You can't get lost!

By bus

Line 68 of the Menorca city bus passes through Ciudadela and stops at Cala Turqueta. This is undoubtedly the most sustainable (and easiest) option to get to the beach, as you won't have to go in your own car or get up early to get a parking space. Take it into account!

Let yourself go and enjoy the sun, the fine sand and the turquoise waters. It won't cost you much, believe me. Of course, if you have foresight and a pair of snorkelling goggles, don't hesitate to dive into the water to discover the marine species that live in these crystal-clear waters. The lack of waves, the purity of the sea and its rocky surroundings make Turqueta the perfect place to dive in search of colourful fish.

The best time to visit Cala Turqueta

It is best to arrive early in the morning. Bear in mind that it is an easily accessible beach and that it is very popular with locals and tourists alike. So if you want to get there and park without any hassle or long waits in the car park, you'll have to get up early. But the reward is worth it.

The sun usually sets quite early on this beach so if you feel like enjoying a swim or sunbathing, bear in mind that it's not the best location to arrive late in the afternoon.

What services does Cala Turqueta have?

Cala Turqueta is a practically virgin beach, but for some years now it has had a lifeguard and public toilets nearby, which makes it much more comfortable to spend the day.

Where to eat in Cala Turqueta

There are no beach bars, bars or restaurants in the cove itself, so if you want to make the most of your stay there, my recommendation is to bring something to eat and some refreshments in your backpack. If not, you can always go to other nearby coves to eat, such as Cala Galdana, where you will find many more services. Of course, you'll have to forfeit your precious parking space if you've gone there in your car.

Cala Turqueta enchants children and adults alike, so don't hesitate to spend the day there with the whole family. The water is not very deep at the shore and if they have sunglasses, floats or a mat, they will have a great time.

Snorkelling in Cala Turqueta

Cala Turqueta is one of Menorca's snorkelling paradises. If you fancy strapping on a mask and snorkel, you'll have a great view of the seabed here. If you fancy exploring the snorkelling option further, some boat trips include stops at caves and cliffs for snorkelling, and kayak trips also have stops for snorkelling.
