Step by Step

On this tour you will have the opportunity, for about 4 hours, to walk through the historic centre of Cordoba, which in 1984 was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Throughout the visit, you will be accompanied by an expert guide, thanks to whom you will learn about the history of this city, which is more than 2,000 years old .

For centuries, Cordoba has been a crossroads of cultures, inhabited by a multitude of peoples such as Romans, Visigoths, Muslims, Jews and Christians. This is reflected in the city's vast cultural heritage, as well as in the multitude of architectural styles of some of its main monuments.

Throughout the guided tour, you will have the opportunity to visit some of Cordoba's main tourist destinations, including the following:

  • Roman Bridge: It was built during the rule of Emperor Augustus and, for twenty centuries, it was the only bridge in the city. It is 331 metres long, 9 metres wide and is supported by a total of 16 arches.
  • Jewish Quarter: The Jewish quarter of Cordoba was the main place where the city's Sephardic Jews lived between the 13th and 15th centuries, until their definitive expulsion in 1492. It is one of the most visited areas of the city, where you can see monuments such as the synagogue, the Arab souk and the Mudejar chapel of San Bartolomé.
  • Synagogue: In the Mudejar style, the synagogue of Cordoba is one of only three synagogues in Spain dating from the period of Muslim rule. The other two are the Synagogue of El Tránsito and the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, both in the city of Toledo. Built in 1315, it was the main monument of religious worship for the Jews of the time.
  • Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos: Castle built by Alfonso XI in 1328. It was built on the ruins of the Alcazar of the Umayyads, and served as the residence of the Catholic Monarchs during the War of Granada. After the victory in the war, Emir Boabdil, the last Muslim ruler of the Iberian Peninsula, was imprisoned in its cells.
  • Cordoba Mosque Cathedral: Built in the 8th century by Abderraman I, it was the second largest mosque in the world for 8 centuries, second only to the Mosque in Mecca. In the 16th century, it was also surpassed in size by the Blue Mosque in Istanbul.
