Step by Step

Discover ancient Roman Barcelona, more than 2000 years old, on this 2-hour walking tour of the old town, the Gothic Quarter and the Born district. Trace Barcelona's Roman and medieval past on this walking tour with a local guide .

Embark on this adventure through Barcelona's historic centre and discover the city's rich history along one of Barcelona's most lively and diverse districts, Ciutat Vella . Emerging from the enclosure that surrounded the ancient city, in this fascinating network of streets and squares you can follow in the footsteps of the ancient Romans.

In Ciutat Vella you will find the best market in Barcelona, the most famous opera house and one of the most touristy areas of the city, the Gothic Quarter . You will discover the charm of the labyrinthine district on a stroll through its narrow medieval alleys. With a professional guide and in groups of around 12 people, you will enjoy the unique architecture of the Gothic Quarter's impressive buildings. You will get to know the Plaza Real and its Napoleonic architecture. Decorated with the elegant fountain of the Three Graces, beautiful lanterns and gigantic palm trees, this elegant square is one of the most bustling and lively squares in Barcelona, especially at night.

You'll pass Barcelona Cathedral, one of the oldest and most important churches in the Catalan city. Stop to gaze at its neo-Gothic façade and admire its gargoyle sculptures at the top of the towers. You'll be amazed by this legendary building with more than 700 years of history!

You'll walk along Barcelona' s lively Ramblas. This emblematic promenade of the city is, nowadays, one of the places with more movement among its inhabitants because of its leisure areas, shops and restaurants. Strolling along La Rambla, you'll find the famous La Boqueria market, full of life and colour. Come in and take the opportunity to try some of Barcelona's typical gastronomic products!

And don't miss the wonderful surprises hidden in the Born neighbourhood . In this famous neighbourhood, which combines its most historic part with more modern areas, you'll be able to see historical and cultural attractions. The popular Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar, the ultimate expression of pure Catalan Gothic style , and the Palau de la Música Catalana, an architectural pearl and musical temple declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Getting to know the old part of the city is very important. It is not the same to get to know it by bus or with an audio guide, as it is to walk around every corner with a professional person. We had a great time.

On most of the walking tours I have been on, the guides did not use a microphone and we used headphones, which sometimes made it difficult to hear well. Here we were offered a small group of maximum 12 people and headphones for everyone. We heard perfectly all the time, the information was very clear and interesting.
