It's best to start the first day by immersing yourself in the history and culture of Seoul, visiting the most traditional places.

Changing of the Guard at Deoksugung Palace

Your first destination is Deoksugung Palace to witness the magnificent Changing of the Guard. The changing of the guard is a spectacle, meticulously performed and where you can see the traditional costumes of the guard. The palace combines traditional architectural styles with Western influences, creating a unique atmosphere. Stroll through the gardens and discover the fusion of cultures in every corner.

With a guided tour you can learn all about the history and tradition of the city and explore areas such as the main hall, the royal house and the kitchen, with explanations, curiosities and anecdotes that will give another dimension to your visit.

Gyeongbokgung Palace

Next, I recommend you head to Gyeongbokgung Palace, the historic heart of the city and only 30 minutes away by public transport, this is one of the best preserved palaces in Seoul, so it's a stop not to be missed. As soon as you enter the majestic Gwanghwamun Gate, you will be transported back to the Joseon Dynasty. Built in 1395, this palace is a fairy tale with its elegant courtyards, majestic pavilions and spectacular gardens, and wait until you see the changing of the guard in front of the Gwanghwamun Gate!

Get your phone ready and fill your camera with photos because the panoramic views from this place are unparalleled. Surrounded by mountains, the palace and its landscapes are the perfect postcard of Seoul. This second stop is one of the best examples of Seoul's blend of tradition and is even better when accompanied by an expert guide who will explain all the secrets.

Bukchon Hanok Quarter

Located right next to Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok is a picturesque and unique place. Moreover, its aesthetics are in line with the visits of this first day itinerary, where you will be able to fully immerse yourself in the most historical and traditional part of the city.

This neighbourhood is characterised by its narrow cobblestone streets and typical hanok houses, a living example of the most traditional Korean architecture.

Street dining in Insadong

End your day with an explosion of flavours in Insadong. This quaint neighbourhood is famous for its traditional street food and tea shops, so take the opportunity to dine here. Try authentic dishes such as tteokbokki (spicy rice cake), hotteok (sweet pancakes) or odeng (skewered fish). It's the perfect way to end your first day in Seoul with an authentic taste. Take the opportunity to sample traditional tea at a local tea shop and soak up the tranquillity of this cultural corner in the heart of the city.

Also, if you're looking for a dose of culture and creativity, Insadong is also the perfect place to round off your three-day visit to Seoul. This charming street is not only famous for its food, but also for its art shops and galleries. Explore the history-filled alleyways, and find the best handicraft treasures.

Ghost tour at night

Seoul is a city with a rich nightlife. So, if you're also looking to visit the city when the sun goes down, you can't miss out on this Seoul ghost tour. You read that right! Korean cuisine is an attraction in itself! That's why you can spend the second day shopping and visiting markets to sample the best delicacies.

Myeongdong

Myeongdong district is the shopping capital par excellence. If you're wondering what to buy in Myeongdong, the answer is everything: luxury fashion shops, Korean beauty products, street stalls, pop culture - it's all here! In Myeongdong you can not only shop for beauty or fashion items, but you can also sample some of Korea's delicacies at traditional stalls.

The area is also known to be associated with pop culture and entertainment. Here you will find shops selling K-pop related merchandise, cafes themed after your favourite bands and an atmosphere that reflects the influence of music and fashion on South Korean youth.

Namdaemun Market

We leave the shopping mecca and enter the Namdaemun Market. You can opt to walk, as this journey will take you no more than 20 minutes. Even if you think it's going to be a similar shopping experience, you should know that you're in for a surprise. This market is packed with everything from clothing to fresh food.

I recommend that you take advantage of this second stop to eat here (if you haven't had your fill at Myeongdong). If you want to immerse yourself in authentic Seoul cuisine, we recommend you take a food tour of Seoul and try local delicacies such as bulgogic (a traditional marinated meat) and tteokbokki(a rice cake with gochujang, the essential ingredient of Korean cuisine), your taste buds will thank you! Take the opportunity to pick up some souvenirs too - don't be shy to haggle a little!

Han River and Hangang Park

To round off the day and relax, there's nothing better than a visit to the Han River and its adjacent park. This sprawling oasis along the Han River offers a wide range of activities and spaces to enjoy, especially in spring and summer. From picnic areas to bike paths and water sports areas, Hangang Park is a place to both relax and cool off.

During the warmer months, Hangang Park has plenty of water activities for locals to beat the heat. So, if you're visiting the city during this time and wondering what to see and do in Seoul in summer, you can't skip this visit. Some of the activities you can do include renting rafts or kayaks or paddle surfing down the river as you like. If you're going with kids, don't miss the swimming pools, water playgrounds or river beaches.

And if water isn't your thing, you can always explore the park on its network of paths, on foot or by bike.

Hongdae nightlife

Seoul's nightlife is legendary and, more specifically, the Hongdae area comes alive with an energy you'll want to experience. This area is famous for its pubs, bars and live performances.

You can enjoy the street performances and complement this visit with a guided tour of Seoul's pubs, where you will be taken to four bars offering traditional drinks. Hongdae nightlife is an experience not to be missed if you want to experience the vibrancy of Seoul's nightlife.

The last day of your itinerary is full of contrasts: nature and Korean modernity are the last stops on your trip to Seoul.

Nami Island

Your last day in Seoul can start with a trip to the famous Nami Island. Surrounded by nature and just a couple of hours northeast of Seoul, this island is a perfect place to relax and enjoy a quiet day. This island is also known as Namiseom and is located in the Han River near the city of Chuncheon. It is a popular tourist attraction known for its natural beauty, picturesque scenery and peaceful and serene atmosphere.

The island has become a favourite destination for locals and international visitors alike.

In this case you can choose to take an early morning short break or a full day trip to Nami Island and the Morning Calm Garden, if you prefer to enjoy this place in peace and quiet and relax. This tour includes a minibus transfer and a professional guide who will explain all the secrets of the place as well as entrance fees to the idyllic Morning Calm Garden. Gangnam

If you have opted to get up early and visit Nami Island in the morning only, you will have the afternoon free to explore the Gangnam neighbourhood. Here you will soak up the trendy and cosmopolitan Seoul lifestyle. This district is famous because it is considered the mecca of fashion, pop culture and luxury. Its avenues are lined with designer shops, luxury and international brands, as well as the best places to sample Korean haute cuisine.

And yes, you're thinking right: thisis Gangnam from 'Gangnam Style'! The district also became world-famous thanks to the song 'Gangnam Style' by South Korean artist Psy, which humorously satirises the swanky, high-society life in the area. Although the song put Gangnam on the international map, the neighbourhood was already an epicentre of modern culture and commerce in South Korea long before the song became world famous.

But Gangnam is not only a fashion and entertainment mecca, it is also the epicentre of South Korea's business success and modern lifestyle. The skyscrapers and corporate offices in this district are evidence of the economic vitality and innovation that characterise Seoul.

N Seoul Tower

What better way to end the day than with a sunset from the N Seoul Tower? The N Seoul Tower is an iconic landmark and tourist attraction in Seoul, South Korea. Officially known as the "Seoul Communications Tower" or "Namsan Tower", this structure stands atop Namsan Mountain, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. The tower is recognisable by its unique and modern design, and has become an iconic symbol of Seoul.

From this iconic tower you can enjoy the best panoramic views of the city. Although you can enjoy its views day or night, sunset is the most impressive time to visit. You can climb its 500-metre height in a cable car or on foot and when you arrive you will be able to see the city of Seoul with an incredible 360º panoramic view.

Another aspect to mention of this N Seoul Tower is its mountain of love padlocks. Visitors place padlocks decorated with romantic messages on the railings as a symbol of love and commitment. If you want to leave yours too, remember to bring one with your and your special someone's initials on it!
