Universal Studios Singapore is a theme park located on Sentosa Island, which offers fun-filled attractions based around the world of film and entertainment. Tickets to this wonderland take you on a journey through the essence of the most famous movies and allows you to experience themed worlds such as the kingdom of Shrek in Far Far Away, Hollywood Boulevard and the island of Madagascar.

You can also experience adrenaline rushes on roller coasters such as Revenge of the Mummy, or relax in the family zones. It is very similar to the one in Florida and although its infrastructure is smaller, you will be pleasantly surprised that the energies and immersive experiences are second to none. Not for nothing is it one of the best things to do in Singapore, so it should be a must on your itinerary - here's how to experience this adventure to the fullest!

How much do tickets to Universal Studios Singapore cost?

The cost can vary depending on age and season, but in general there are standard tickets to Universal Studios from 58 euros for adults and from 43 euros for children. In fact, if you are looking for things to do in Singapore with children I suggest you take advantage of the fact that children under 4 years old can get in for free. Additionally, there are other packages that include transfers from 65 euros, ideal so you don't have to worry about how to get to the park.

If you are visiting Singapore for Christmas, you should note that Christmas shows, as well as Halloween themed events, are usually available from 67 euros. Meals, souvenirs and certain experiences may also cost extra, which is something to budget for. For example, a full meal can cost around 10 euros.

If you prefer, you can take advantage of Singapore's best tourist cards, such as the Singapore All-Inclusive Pass, which starts at 170 euros and gives you access to more than 34 local attractions. Alternatively, you can opt for a VIP experience from 245 euros which usually includes skip-the-line access to various attractions, private meet and greet with selected VIPs, free drinks and food and discounts on souvenirs. Finally, there are those who prefer to buy a combination ticket with the S.E.A. Aquarium, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore Cable Car or Madame Tussauds from 75 euros.

What types of tickets are available and are there skip-the-line tickets to Universal Studios Singapore?

To access Universal Studios Singapore you can find different types of tickets to suit your preferences, budget and needs. There are options that will save you from queuing or offer other benefits, here are the most important ones:

    • Standard one-day ticket: gives you access to all attractions and shows such as Shrek's kingdom in Far Far Away, high-speed roller coasters, New York or Hollywood-inspired areas, among others. Does not include skip-the-line access.
    • Combined ticket: This is an excellent option to complement this visit with other places and attractions of interest, such as Sky Pass tickets for the Sentosa Cable Car in Singapore. It does not usually include priority access to any of the activities.
    • VIP ticket: this is a luxury experience that usually includes a guided tour of the best areas of the park. Benefits include skip-the-line entry to 8 attractions, private meet and greet with friendly characters, photo ops, meal vouchers and discounts on selected souvenirs.
    • Express Pass: This is a type of ticket that offers queue-free access to this and other top attractions in Singapore. You can use the Universal Express which gives you priority access and allows you to skip the waiting time once at selected attractions. There is also the Universal Express Unlimited which adds the extra benefit of getting in as many times as you want at different attractions without waiting.
    • Tourist Pass Entry: Some of the best Singapore Tourist Passes offer park access, including the All-Inclusive Pass and the Singapore Tourist Pass, ideal if you plan to spend at least 5 days in Singapore, as it offers 2 or 3 day entry to the park and 44 other experiences.
    • Shuttle ticket: Getting to the park is relatively easy and quick, but if you're travelling with young children you may want to opt for convenience. Some tickets come with a built-in pick-up and drop-off option.
    • Themed event tickets: While most tickets include all rides and shows, there are exceptions when it comes to themed or peak season events. In this case, it is important to book in advance and watch for announcements on the Universal Studios website.

    Book the Singapore All-Inclusive Pass

Are tickets to Universal Studios Singapore included in any of the city's tourist passes?

You're in luck! Admission to Universal Studios theme park is included in some of the best Singapore sightseeing passes, saving you a couple of euros. Visit all the facilities, hop on and off your favourite rides and have fun at the shows on offer from the world of TV and film. Specifically there are three options, here are all the details:

    • Singapore All-Inclusive Pass: with this pass you have guaranteed access to more than 35 attractions from 171 euros. In the case of Universal Studios you must book in advance, so don't leave it to the last minute. You can enjoy all the roller coasters, rides, shows, character encounters and activities ideal if you plan to visit Singapore with children. For example, join the giant Puss in Boots ride, Enchanted Airways and Treasure Hunters.
    • Singapore Day Pass: the park has so many attractions, if you want several days to enjoy each one and repeat until you get tired, then this may be the best option. It covers entry for two or three days with unlimited fun.
    • Express Pass: this is an exclusive card to enter Universal Studios without queuing, once in the facilities you won't have to line up either. It all depends on which option you choose. Universal Express gives you priority entry to selected attractions, while Universal Express Unlimited allows you to enjoy the park at your leisure.

Are there tickets that include a guided tour of Universal Studios Singapore, and is it worth it?

If you want to get to know the park and go to the best attractions first, then it's best to go on a tour with a local guide. This is usually included in the VIP ticket and for five hours you can enjoy a thorough tour of the facilities. This way, you'll walk in like a celebrity without queuing and get your picture taken with the characters.

This type of experience takes you into the studio for a behind-the-scenes look at the films in the company of a park host. Additionally, be prepared to chat with Shrek and Marilyn Moroe, or head to the food court to use the food discount voucher that guided tours often provide. This is definitely one of the best tours in Singapore as you can visit themed areas such as Ancient Egypt, Far Far Away, New York, Hollywood and Madagascar.

It's really worth it if you plan to spend at least 5 days in Singapore, so you'll have the opportunity to spend one day having fun and another day discovering the park's most fascinating stories.

Are there discounted tickets for Universal Studios Singapore?

The park usually has cheaper options and discounts depending on certain factors. First, buying your ticket online allows you to secure the best prices and take advantage of promotions from certified operators. Additionally, children between the ages of 4 and 12 usually pay a friendlier entrance fee and children under the age of 4 get in for free. Adults over the age of 60 can also get certain considerations, such as tickets starting from €28, depending on the season.

Also, combination tickets often offer discounts of up to 5%, as they allow you to venture into two of the best things to do in Singapore at a more affordable price. Note that buying in low season, i.e. from May to September, can secure you special discounts. Also, if you plan to visit Singapore in November, you can take advantage of the low tourist footfall that triggers promotions in the park.

    Are there special children's tickets?

If you're looking for things to do in Singapore with children, I'm pleased to inform you that they are Universal Studios' favourites, hence they receive greater ticket considerations. Tickets are cheaper for children between the ages of 4 and 12, plus children under 4 get in for free. It is also advisable to consider VIP tickets or those that include transfers, so you can make the experience more enjoyable for them.

Unfortunately, some attractions have age and size restrictions as a safety precaution. So don't expect your little ones to be able to ride turbulent roller coasters with you. From the age of 5 upwards, your child is more likely to be suitable for the myriad of activities on offer at this park. Some of the top family options include:

    • New York: one of the park's themed worlds, where you can tour the Big Apple and meet Sesame Street characters. Here there is a roller coaster where children over 92cm can ride, which simulates a flight to a faraway world.
    • Sci-fi City: a futuristic city where children can meet Transformers. It also has roller coasters and requires children to be at least 102cm tall.
    • Far Far Away: the endearing world of Shrek, where you'll find a beautiful castle and a theatre with 4D shows offering photos with the ogre and the princess.

Why is it worth buying tickets online instead of at the box office?

The Universal Studios park experience is highly sought after, as it is one of the best things to do in Singapore. Therefore, during peak season (July, December and January), it pays to buy tickets in advance to secure the experience. The purchase process is quite simple, you just need to select the date, the number of adults or children and provide your personal details to receive the booking details in your inbox.

Occasionally, you may notice that tourist agency websites indicate that there is limited availability on certain dates, so it is not advisable to wait for the ticket office. Also, there is often a queue at the ticket office and availability is not guaranteed. In any case, it is best to buy an Express Pass at the gates of the park to skip the waiting time at the entrance.

    Universal Studios Singapore opening hours

If you plan to spend at least 3 days in Singapore, you can't miss an adventure at Universal Studios Singapore. The park is generally open daily from 10:00 to 19:00. Please note that on Christmas, New Year's Day and other public holidays the closing time is often expanded. Also, in high season it may close later, giving you more time to enjoy the facilities.

In case of extreme weather conditions you may not be able to ride the roller coasters, for safety reasons.

How much time do you need to visit Universal Studios Singapore?

With your ticket you can stay in the park for as long as you feel necessary, however it takes, on average, 5 hours to get on all the rides and visit each themed world in detail. If you want to see everything at your leisure and plan to spend more than 5 days in Singapore, it is advisable to buy a 2 or 3 day pass to enjoy the park at your own pace.

Best time to visit Universal Studios Singapore

If you plan to visit Singapore in December, you can take advantage of the park's facilities. Specifically, between December and March you can't miss out on the best local activities and a visit to Universal Studios, as the mild weather allows you to stay outdoors without any inconvenience. You won't have to worry about storms stopping some attractions. Also, at this time of year the park is filled with themed events for Christmas, New Year's and Chinese New Year.

In case you want to escape the crowds, I suggest you consider the off-season from May to September.

There are 4 main ways to get to Universal Studios from downtown Singapore and the journey takes approximately 10 minutes, here are all the details:

    • Taxi: this is a quick option that allows you to get there in ten minutes, and you can pay from 6 euros for this journey.
    • Private transfer: if you want convenience at all times, you may want to consider a ticket that includes return transfers.
    • Underground: The underground from Clarke Quay takes you in seven minutes and has routes every five minutes.

What you can't miss at Universal Studios Singapore

The park has a magical world of not-to-be-missed attractions, including:
