Step by Step

This activity allows you to dive in the aquarium's largest tank, which contains approximately 500,000 litres of water. The experience includes both an experienced instructor and all equipment hire. Another plus is the ease of understanding the explanations, as the experience is designed for small groups.

Before entering the tank, a "water baptism" is planned in the natural pools Cachalote/Velhas, located in the vicinity of the aquarium. Ideal if you have never dived before, as well as to warm up before diving in the aquarium. In total, this activity lasts approximately 2.5 hours.

The dive takes place in a safe environment and will give you the opportunity to swim with rays, moray eels and small sharks. In general, the Madeira Aquarium contains the species that live in the surrounding ocean.

The Madeira Aquarium is located inside the fort of São João Batista, in the town of Porto Moniz. Getting there is very easy: from Funchal you only need to reach São Vicente and then take the North Coastal Road (VE2). Here you will find both free and paid parking at affordable rates.

Many species of aquatic animals can be seen, in some cases it is best not to get too close. The diver knew a lot too.
