Experience Highlights

It is considered one of the most holy places in the entire Western world. A centuries old church that still serves as the chapel for the current pope and the place where he delivers his liturgies. It’s an experience rich in stories, symbolism and meaning, an experience that warrants having an expert guide by your side. You’ll feel like an insider, gaining access to the normally off-limits dome area and to the underlying truths that fueled the history of the Catholic Church. During this two hour guided tour you will explore in groups of 25:

  • St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican's main church and the place where the Pope delivers his liturgies
  • The dome of St. Peter’s, offering incredible panoramic views of Rome
  • The famous art and architecture, including the works of Michelangelo and Bernini.

What’s included

  • A two hour guided tour of St. Peter's Basilica
  • Exclusive guided tour access to the dome area
  • Headphones to hear the guide clearly.
  • Free time after the visit to explore the Basilica at your leisure.

Step by Step

Once you join your group your expert guide will take you to the holy see, where the pope offers his liturgies to the parishioners. You will then climb up to the terrace of the dome, a monumental 41-metre structure that will allow you to appreciate the city from an unparalleled perspective, with panoramic views of St. Peter's Square, the Vatican and much of Rome. From there, the group will have ample time to take in the interior and exterior of this architectural marvel designed and built by famous artists including  Michelangelo and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. As you exit the Basilica you will be able to stroll through St. Peter's Square, where the Catholic faithful congregate every day among the 284 columns and 88 pilasters of the monument, known as the Colonnade, also by Bernini.

One of the most visited places in the world and rightly so, there is art everywhere, amazing sites, the crypt as an amazing historical site and the dome that allows you to see amazing views of Rome.

We went at Easter and the truth is that we had to wait a long time to get in. There were a lot of people, but it was worth it all the same. The dome is spectacular.
