Step by Step

On this tour you will have the opportunity, for about 9 hours, to visit the cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, as well as to climb to the top of the volcano that destroyed them. You will be accompanied by an expert guide, with whom you will learn many interesting facts about the history, architecture and nature of the places you will visit.

Both Pompeii and Herculaneum are famous for having been destroyed by a volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Both cities were buried under the ash and survived the passage of time. Today, they are the largest and most important archaeological sites in Europe .

Strolling through the streets of both Pompeii and Herculaneum, you can see the preserved Roman-era buildings, as well as a multitude of objects and corpses that were petrified under the ash. Thanks to this, you can learn what daily life was like for the Romans during the 1st century.

Some of Pompeii's highlights include the Forum, the centre of the city's commercial life, the Lupanar, Pompeii's main brothel, and the Temple of Jupiter, a sanctuary where the Roman god was worshipped. Also of note are the city's Stabian Baths, built in the 4th century BC.

In Herculaneum, you can also stroll through its streets and visit some of its most popular sites. These include the city's thermal baths, a place for bathing and social gatherings, and the Gymnasium, an extensive complex dedicated to sporting activities. The Theatre of Herculaneum and the many houses of wealthy citizens of the time are also well known.

Once you have seen both archaeological complexes, you will continue your excursion to the Vesuvius National Park, where you can climb to the top of the mountain. The summit of the volcano, still active, is about 1,200 metres above sea level. From the top, you can look out over the bay of the Gulf of Naples, and enjoy views of the Tyrrhenian coast.

In case you don't want to climb to the top, you can wait for your group in a rest area.

My children got a bit tired with the tour, I think it is not so much for children or teenagers. We still had a great time and they were enthusiastic about some of the stories. I was very surprised by Herculaneum, Pompeii is unforgettable with its history and architecture preserved in spite of everything!

I liked it above all because the tour had just enough time to get to know and see all the places visited. Mount Vesuvius I think scared me a little with its imposing and ancient history. Everything was great to say the truth.
