Although there are countless places to visit in Florence, if I had to choose one that is absolutely essential, it would be the Uffizi Gallery. It is home to one of the richest collections of paintings in the world, complete with Roman and Greek statues and other attractions.

When planning a visit to this museum there is one aspect that tends to be very important: the price. You have to take into account that the price is different if you prefer to buy a ticket for the Uffizi Gallery and visit on your own or book a guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence so that a guide can explain the most important works. You can also find combined tickets that include the gallery and other museums in the city.

You can get Uffizi Gallery tickets to visit the Uffizi Gallery on your own from just €37 on Helloticket. A perfect option for those who have some information about what they are going to see, as it allows you to organise the tour on your own. Another plus point is quick access, as the Uffizi Gallery is the most visited museum in all of Florence, so queues can waste a lot of time if you haven't bought your tickets in advance.

Inside, you can wander through all the rooms at your own pace, stopping at the places that interest you most. To enhance the experience, you can always pick up the maps and audio guides provided at the entrance to the museum. This way, you can create your own itinerary and enjoy the works on display without worrying about anything.

However, if you prefer to book a guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence in a small group to discover the interior with the explanations of an expert guide, you can buy it from €54.

If you like to make the most of your time and start your visits very early (before all the museums are full), this is the right choice for you. This way, you will be sure to see all the rooms more comfortably and without having to waste time in a queue. Obviously, if you prefer this option, you will be able to buy your tickets to the Uffizi Gallery at the ticket office. In that case, you should be prepared to queue for more than 1 hour, as it is a museum that receives thousands of visitors every year. Another possibility is to buy tickets for the Uffizi Gallery on the museum's website. The only problem is that it does not have an English version, but navigating the site is not too complicated. As for the price, it varies depending on the time of year:

  • Between 1 March and 31 October:: Admission to the Uffizi Gallery (including the National Archaeological Museum and the Museo dell'Opificio delle Pietre Dure) costs around €20, although there is a reduced ticket for just €2 for EU young people aged 18-25. On the other hand, if you want to visit the Pitti Palace, the entrance fee is around €16 (reduced, €2). Finally, entrance to the Boboli Gardens costs another €10 (reduced, €2). The combined ticket for all three sites costs around €38, which is reduced to €21 for EU youth.

  • From 1 November to 28 February: In low season, admission to the Uffizi Gallery drops to around €12, while reduced admission remains at €2. The Pitti Palace, meanwhile, costs around €10 (€2 with reduced admission) and entry to the Boboli Gardens will cost around €6. The combined ticket for all three areas of the complex costs around €18.

Is there an option that combines entrance to the Uffizi Gallery with other museums and monuments?

If in addition to the Uffizi Gallery you want to visit the best works of the other great museum of Florence, the Accademia Gallery and Michelangelo's David, you can do it comfortably from 143 €. In addition, you'll also get a walking tour of the most interesting areas of the city. This combination saves you money compared to booking a separate guided tour for each gallery and you will have priority access. As for the tour of the city, you will also be accompanied by a guide.

A bit of information about the Accademia Gallery

Luckily, once you are in Florence you don't have to choose between the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia Gallery, as both, from my point of view, are two must-sees in the Italian city. In particular, the Accademia Gallery houses one of the jewels of art history: Michelangelo's David. In addition, you can also see other works by the same Renaissance genius, such as the San Matteo or the Prigioni, without forgetting religious-themed works by other great masters such as Botticelli, Fra Filippo Lippi or Pontormo.

What is usually included in this type of ticket

  • Small groups (up to a maximum of 15 people).
  • Professional guide specialised in art.
  • Guided walking tour of the city.
  • Skip-the-line ticket for both galleries.
  • Ticket for the Uffizi Gallery.
  • Entrance ticket for the Accademia Gallery.

The Uffizi Gallery is one of the best museums in Florence and one of the must-see places to visit in Florence. Every year, it offers a few days of free admission to its premises. The calendar, which varies every season, is available on their website.

Also, it is interesting to pay attention to the news about the resumption of the so-called "Museum Sundays". Until 2020, admission was free on the first Sunday of every month, but there is still no notification as to whether this rule will continue to apply in the near future. On the other hand, some groups have free admission to the gallery every day of the year:

  • Children under the age of 18, regardless of nationality.
  • Persons with a disability recognised by Italian law.
  • Teachers and students of certain degrees such as Architecture, Cultural Heritage or Art and Literature.
  • Tour guides.
  • Journalists belonging to the Association of Italian Journalists.
  • Professionals belonging to the International Council of Museums.
