Remember that at the Sea Life it is compulsory to book your time in advance. The ideal travel scenario is to make the itinerary of the day, for example by buying your tickets for the best sightseeing buses in Munich having checked the route and thus taking advantage of the ride through the different parts of the city that you can visit, such as this aquarium.

If you want to make the most of your visit to Germany, I recommend buying your tickets in advance. In any case, at least in the case of this Sea Life, you will have to go to their website to make a reservation.

The stars of the aquarium are:

The sharks

With more than 20 species living on the premises, this is the aquarium with the largest variety of sharks in Germany.

Here you will find the carpet sharks - of Japanese origin - as well as cat sharks, dog sharks and other species. They live together in a special huge ocean basin.

Without a doubt they are the main attraction of the place, and you can't miss the basin with these feisty fish, especially if you want to meet the HAI-LIGHT nurse shark, a Pünktchen zebra shark that dominates the terrain to its heart's content.

The tropical island

The depths of the ocean are as dangerous as its shores, and Sea Life Munich brings together a special selection of these species.

Poisonous frogs, green water dragons, huge turtles, giant insects, reptiles... a whole tropical island on German soil.

Cetaceans and others

A variety of cetaceans and other marine species such as sturgeons, the dreaded compass jellyfish and other rescued animals.

  • Book in advance. Other aquariums allow you to buy at the ticket office, but in this case you can only pay for pre-booked tickets. You may be able to get in quickly with your phone and make a last minute purchase but it's a lottery. The place is as small as it is cosy and children often have a great time enjoying the activities and marine life.
  • Leave your pet at home. The Sea Life Aquarium Munich does not allow pets. However, in the case of pet dogs, your best friend is welcome, you just need to present documentation to prove their official function.
  • Be on time for your appointment. Try to arrive at the aquarium at least 10 minutes before the agreed time and date to respect the organisation of the place, your time and that of other visitors. The aquarium staff cannot guarantee that you will be able to enter at the next available time slot and itinerary changes are only accepted with advance notice.
On the other hand, if you arrive early and you have small children, you can use one of the stools at the entrance to facilitate a clearer view of the pools. There is no charge, just please remember to leave them at the ticket office on your way out so that other visitors can use them.
  • The aquarium welcomes babies, in fact up to the age of 2 years are free. However, it is recommended that prams be dispensed with. Some areas are narrow and for the best view of everyone they will allow you to leave them at the entrance of the aquarium free of charge.
