I also recommend it if you have a clear idea of what you want to see and know beforehand the history of each piece of art or if you have already been to the Louvre on previous occasions.

In addition, in general, with tickets for a guided tour of the museum you will avoid the queues and you will be able to enter the building quickly to start the tour without delay. In a museum of this kind, where the queues can be kilometres long, this is a positive point to bear in mind.

How much do tickets to the Louvre Museum cost at the box office?
General admission at the Louvre Museum ticket office costs around 15 euros and covers both the permanent and temporary collections. Therefore, there are no reduced rates to enter the building.
If you decide to buy your Louvre tickets at the ticket office you can save a couple of euros, but in exchange you will have to wait in very long queues that can last between 40 minutes and 2 hours and you risk that when your turn arrives at the ticket office, the tickets are already sold out for the date and time you want to visit.
Therefore, this is not the option I recommend. My advice is to buy your tickets to the Louvre Museum online in advance because this way you will secure your place on the day you want, you will save all that waiting time at the ticket office and you will avoid getting tired before doing the tour inside.
Can I visit the Louvre Museum for free?
Yes, it's possible! On 14 July, Bastille Day (France's bank holidays), admission is free all day long.
The rest of the time certain groups can enter the Louvre Museum free of charge to enjoy its collections. Here are some examples:
