I invite you to take a classic tour of the centre to see how lively the streets become and how the buildings are lit up, as well as to visit the bars and drink the best drinks. Other plans include watching the sunset from the heights, going to the beach or visiting the Old Port. You will certainly find a variety of options to enjoy this city until midnight.

Dubrovnik's city walls are one of the city's most popular attractions. If you go at dusk you can admire the beautiful colours of the sky until nightfall. It will be a spectacle for your eyes!

You can enter the Dubrovnik City Walls from Stradun Street through the Pile Gate or book a tour of the historic centre of Dubrovnik to learn about the history of this construction. I assure you this is one of the best Dubrovnik tours.

The main purpose of these walls was to provide protection and ensure the peace and freedom of the city. They are reinforced with three circular towers and fourteen quadrangular towers. In addition, there are forts Lovrijenac, Revelin and St. John.

The Fort of St. Lawrence or Lovrjenac is one of the most popular for being a symbol of excellence for the city. It was also the setting for the Red Keep in the Game of Thrones series, so it is often included in Game of Thrones tours of Dubrovnik.

Please note that to get to the fort you have to climb at least 200 steps, but it will be worth it! You will be able to see the Bay of Pile and enjoy the beautiful scenery at sunset. Also, consider arriving on time as the entrance to the Fort of St. Lawrence is at the bottom of the stairs.

If you travel to Dubrovnik in June or in the summer months in general, you might be able to take part in the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, which is held here every year. You can enjoy a variety of theatrical performances such as Hamlet which usually take place at sunset.

Dubrovnik' s cable car is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dubrovnik and you can see the city from over 400 metres above the ground! In addition, during the summer months the cable car is open until midnight.

I recommend that you take the cable car at sunset, as at that time you will be able to appreciate the beautiful colours of the sky, it is quite a spectacle! If you are travelling as a couple it will be the perfect romantic date. Keep in mind that the last cable car ride leaves 30 minutes before closing time, which varies depending on the month.

And not only is it a beautiful attraction, but it also has historical value. It was opened in 1969 and for a time was the easiest way to get from the centre to the top of Srđ Hill.

Dubrovnik's Old Town is a place full of magic that you are sure to love visiting at night. Although you can go at any time of the day when booking a Dubrovnik tour, the evening is a totally different experience. You'll be able to walk along the cobbled streets lit by street lamps.

To begin with, it's best to explore the city centre by passing through the Pile Gate located in the west of Dubrovnik. You will pass over the bridge that leads to the moat-turned-garden. You will also see a Renaissance-style archway: look out for the statue of the city's protector, St Blaise.

As you walk through the streets you will see important buildings such as the Dominican Monastery and the Dubrovnik Cathedral. This is definitely an ideal activity if you are staying at least 2 days in Dubrovnik. At the end of the night you can decide whether to go to Stardun Street, where you will find many nightclubs, or spend the rest of the night in the Old Harbour admiring the sea.

5. Explore Dubrovnik's Old Harbour

Dubrovnik's Old Port is the symbol of the city. During the 15th and 16th centuries, Croatia held an important position in trade and received numerous merchant ships through this port. It was also one of the sites most affected by the bombardments of the Croatian War of Independence, which you can learn more about in its museum.

But this is not only a historical site for the city, it is also one of the most romantic in the world. It has restaurants by the sea that make for a beautiful romantic evening. You can also see multiple fishing boats and, in the distance, the distant lights of the city.

Another reason why you should go to the Old Harbour at the end of the day is that it is close to other places of interest. These include the Dubrovnik Aquarium, the Polce Gate and the Dominican monastery.

Taking an evening boat trip is one of the best things to do at night. These cruises are usually combined with a short walking tour through the Old Town of Dubrovnik. You will be able to appreciate the colours of the sky and the rest of the seascape.

These cruises usually pass the city walls and head to some of the nearby islands. During the cruise you may be able to sample a delicious traditional dinner known as Popara. In addition to this there may be various snacks that you can enjoy with the drink of your choice.

Boat trips are ideal for exploring Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic Sea. If you prefer something more adventurous, you can book an evening boat trip around Dubrovnik in a 16th century replica.

Interesting details

  • Duration: about 3 hours for the cruise and 45 minutes for the night tour.

7. Take a pub crawl through some of the city's pubs

One of the best things to do in a new city is to visit its pubs or nightspots. This way you can get to know the customs of the locals, taste delicious drinks and traditional dishes. In short, spend an unforgettable night! For this I recommend you to choose a pub or plan a pub crawl.

I recommend you to go to the pubs that are located inside the walls that enclose the historic centre. Right in a labyrinth of narrow streets you will find multiple bars, discos and clubs that you should visit. The main street Stardun is where you'll find the most variety, such as the Irish Pub The Gaffe and the Stradoon cocktail bar.

Most bars close around 1am and while you're enjoying the night you can wander down the street and see some of the sights such as Orlando's Column. There are also a number of restaurants in this area, so dine before you drink alcohol! This way you will avoid unwanted drunkenness.

8. Go to a concert at the Sponza Palace

This is an old Renaissance palace where concerts and cultural events are held all the time. Are you up for a visit? You can check the schedule when you are visiting the city to find out when there are evening performances that catch your attention.

The Sponza Palace is located at the end of Stradun Street. This site is also known as Divona and is characterised by an architectural style that mixes Gothic and Renaissance. The building was built between 1516 and 1521 and owes its name to the Italian word spongia.

Besides offering performances, this site houses around 100,000 documents, constituting the largest archive in the city. If you want to know more about the history of this building, you can visit it in the company of a professional guide who can give you a complete overview.

9. Go to Banje beach and enjoy a dinner in front of the sea

If you like the beach you can go to Banje beach and spend a very entertaining evening. Enjoy the sea and the relaxing sound of the waves here. You can also enjoy a delicious dinner at Banje Beach Restaurant, one of the most visited restaurants in town.

There is also usually good music for you to dance the night away. However, if you don't want to be alone in the restaurant, you can also go out and enjoy the sand. Lie back on a chair and enjoy the scenery or play a classic game of beach volleyball. Keep in mind that this place is often visited by famous people from Croatia and the world. Keep your eyes open!

Another reason why I recommend you to visit this area of the city is because it is very easily accessible. It is close to the Ploce Gate and on the left side of Lanzareto, facing the island of Lokrum, so you can easily include a visit to this beach in your day trip itinerary!

Interesting details

  • Price: Going to the beach is free. If you want to enjoy the club you have to pay for what you consume.
  • Opening hours: Any time of the day.
  • Location: 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia

Juan's Traveller Tip

Remember to bring warm clothes if you plan to spend the night on the beach. You can also research what the temperature will be that night and be better prepared.

10. Take a sunset kayak tour

One of the best things to do in Dubrovnik is to book a kayak tour in Dubrovnik. However, I recommend doing it at sunset because from the sea you can admire the colours of the day as they fade away and night falls.

If you don't know how to use a kayak, don't worry! The organisers of this type of excursion will explain all the details you need to know before you start. That's why I recommend that you arrive on time and ask all the necessary questions.

During the trip you can go to the Elafiti islands and then paddle around the island of Lokrum. There you can explore hidden caves before sunset to make the most of the daylight. Afterwards you can take a break and watch the colours of the sky. You will paddle back to the mainland after dark.

Interesting details

  • Price: approximately €50 per person.
  • Duration: about 3 hours.
